Artist of the Month for June 2015
Sebastian Caltabiano is a realism artist born in 1994. He was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he lives nowadays. He started painting at the age of 7 when his parents realized that he lacked a lot of concentration in school, he didn’t like sports and other things that normally kids like to do. They saw that he was obsessed with cartoons, and wildlife documentaries and he was always very passionate about animals (especially cats). At the age of 3 he visited Patagonia in South Argentina where he developed a strong passion for mountains and great plains. When he turned 8, his parents sent him to painting lessons and everyone noticed his obsession with landscapes and animals. He visited private school, where he never felt like he fits in. When he turned 15, he moved to a public school with orientation in arts. He attended it for five years until 2012, when he realized that he wasn’t learning anything new about art and decided to drop out. Since then, he learned for himself everything about realism and never stopped pushing his art forward. He is also a musician with an absolute ear, and he is starting a composer career in a music college in Argentina. One of his biggest dreams is to become a film composer. Now his art is slowly gaining more attention and more people are interested in knowing him and see how he managed to create high quality drawings at his young age. Almost all his drawings are made with soft pastels and pastel pencils, but he also works with oils and acrylics.
